Typically, drivers will load your vehicle at a location they consider safe. Truck drivers must consider several factors when it comes to loading your vehicle, such as fitting all cars within the permissible length of the truck and adhering to federal laws to avoid overloading any of the axles.

The majority of cars are transported via an open auto transport, which is the most affordable option and offers $250.000 insurance coverage. This is usually $300-400 less than the cost of enclosed transport, which provides a higher insurance coverage and is mainly used for expensive vehicles such as super cars.

You can transport up to 100 lbs of personal belongings in your car for no extra cost, but they must be stored in the trunk or back compartment. If you want to take more than this, it will be an additional charge and must be placed in the front or back seat below window level. Nothing heavy can be carried on these seats and the driver’s seat must remain empty. Any items brought with you are not protected by insurance.

The Department Of Transportation forbids the carriage of any household items while in transit with a vehicle. Carrying such items inside a vehicle is at the owner’s own risk, and if the driver notices that your car is weighed down due to them, he may demand their removal or charge you additional fees. Someone must be present for the pick up and delivery of your goods. You or an authorized representative can sign the Bill of Lading and witness our driver’s inspection. After the inspection is done and the Bill of Lading has been signed, you are free to go.

If you would like someone else to be present during the pick-up or delivery of your vehicle, it is important that they are aware of the inspection process and their role in it. They should understand that the person shipping needs to sign off on the bill of lading noting the condition of your car, and if another individual is receiving it upon delivery, they must carefully inspect for any damages and note them on this same document.

You only need to give the keys to the driver. No other documents such as your title or insurance are needed. All you have to do is sign off on the bill of lading that your vehicle has been picked up, and then it will be on its way.
